AAA Hitter of the Month
Nolan Gorman, 2B - MEM - Cardinals
.338/.390/.811, 11 HR, 2 2B , 16 RBI, 27 K, 6 BB - 19 games, 82 PAs
Gorman had a huge month, hitting 11 homers in just 19 games. It’s a great start for him after a somewhat down year (by his standards) at AAA in 2021 (.274/.320/.465). Gorman hit 14 homers in 328 AAA PAs in 2021, so he’s already on his way to exceeding that number and possibly getting his first call-up to the big leagues at some point. If there are any concerns about Gorman’s bat, it’s his swing and miss and tendency to expand the zone. Despite the big numbers he put up in April, he also struck out 27 times in 82 plate appearances (33%). Gorman is a below-average defender and blocked at the IF corners by Arenado and Goldschmidt, which has forced him to primarily play 2B the last two years. When he eventually gets called up to the big leagues, Gorman may end up seeing the most time as a DH with occasional starts at second.
