It was a good day to be an Orioles fan. Maybe not if you’re paying attention to the games in Baltimore, but if you’re watching in Norfolk you should be feeling pretty optimistic about the future. Grayson Rodriguez (#3 overall prospect) has been strong all season, and yesterday was much of the same as he struck out a season high 11 batters. On his way to those 11 Ks he generated 17 whiffs on 44 swings (39%). His fastball maxed out at 99.2 mph. The 11th overall pick in the 2018 draft now has a 2.65 ERA (1.90 FIP) on the season and has struck out 57 of the 148 batters he’s faced (38.5%). Not to be outdone by his battery mate, Adley Rutschman also homered and has looked good so far at AAA.
