Durham Bulls (TB) win Triple-A National Championship, AFL opening day
One day after winning the International League title, Durham (TB) captured the Triple-A National Championship by beating Reno (ARI) 10-6. Bligh Madris (26) - TB (AAA) took home MVP honors with a four hit night including two doubles and four runs batted in for Durham. Starters Taj Bradley (21) - TB (AAA) and Deyni Olivero (24) - ARI (AAA) were knocked out early in the game and didn’t factor in the final decision. Reno was up 6-5 heading into the 9th inning before Durham scored five runs on three walks and three hits, including a Madris double and Tristan Gray (26) - TB (AAA) homer.
