The Rundown 🌟
Let’s get into it. Andrew Abbott (23) - CIN (AA) had an impressive start to the season, striking out 11 including the first nine batters he faced last night. He might not be in Double-A for long. It was also a strong start to the year for Guardians prospect Gavin Williams (23) - CLE (AA), who punched out nine over 4 1/3 innings. He only gave up two hits and one walk while getting 19 swing and misses. The former 23rd overall pick out of East Carolina is coming off a strong 2022 campaign in which he struck 149 batters across 115 innings while maintaining an ERA under two.
It was a good night for Travis Swaggerty (25) - PIT (AAA) who hit two bombs for Triple-A Indianapolis. The former 10th overall pick hit .254 / .348 / .399 (102 wRC+) last season at Triple-A. It feels like an important season for him to take a step forward. | Mets prospect Mark Vientos also had a strong night, reaching base every time he stepped to the plate and finishing the game 3-3 with a homer and a walk. | Staying in Triple-A, Brewers prospect Sal Frelick continues to rake, collecting four hits including a double and a stolen base across a double-header. Frelick has’t stopped hitting since he turned pro and may be up in Milwaukee sooner than later.
