Down on the Farm - 5/1/23
David Hollie (KC) hits four homers, Adam Wainwright makes a rehab start, LJ Talley (TOR) had a hitting performance not matched since 2013, & Cam Collier (CIN) collects his first home run of the season
The Rundown ⭐️
There were a few interesting hitting performances to round out the weekend. LJ Talley (25) - TOR (AAA) was off to a horrid start to the season, slashing .044 / .267 / .044 in 30 plate appearances before going 6 for 6 last night with two doubles and four RBIs. Per MiLB, this is the first six hit game in the International League since fellow Bison Moisés Sierra achieved the feat in 2013. Nice way to kickstart your season. Although he had the most hits, the performance of the day likely belongs to David Hollie (23) - KC (A), who hit four homers across a double-header.
Not to be outdone, Cooper Hummel (28) - SEA (AAA) had the weirdest night, going 0-1 with 5 walks. Hummel was coming into the game hitting just .227, so it’s not clear why pitchers wanted to avoid him, but credit where credit is due and he did a nice job laying off of pitches out of the zone.
