The Rundown 🌟
Dodgers top pitching prospect Bobby Miller (23, AA) struck out 11 hitters across six innings yesterday, giving up five hits and three runs in Tulsa’s (AA) 7-3 loss to Midland. The former 1st round pick out of Louisville has punched out 108 batters in 83.2 innings this season. Miller’s fastball sits in the upper 90’s and can touch triple digits. While he’s usually able to overpower Double-A hitters with velocity, his fastball shape and command make it a hittable pitch at times. He may have difficulty getting it by more advanced hitters as he progresses to higher levels. Miller also throws a plus slider, but like his fastball, he’s shown fairly inconsistent command of the pitch. His changeup hasn’t been much of a factor so far, but he’ll need to improve his third pitch as he moves up the ranks. Sticking with the Dodgers, Emmet Sheehan (22) - LAD (A+), a 6th round pick in last year’s draft out of Boston College, threw five scoreless innings while striking out nine and walking three for Great Lakes. Sheehan has a 3.14 ERA across nine starts (15 games) and has punched out 76 batters in 48.2 innings pitched. In his 5th rehab start, Dustin May (24) - LAD (AAA) struck out eight, only giving up one run across five innings. May is coming back from Tommy John surgery and hasn’t given up more than one run in any of his rehab starts.
