In last week’s blockbuster deal that landed the Padres both Juan Soto and Josh Bell, the Nationals continued their rebuild by acquiring a haul of young talent, including MacKenzie Gore, CJ Abrams, Robert Hassell III, James Wood, and Jarlin Susana. Both Gore and Abrams have time in the big leagues and will likely be a part of the Nats roster in the near-term. Gore is recovering from an arm injury but will join the rotation when he’s healthy and Abrams will likely finish out the season as the starting shortstop in D.C. Out of all the players that haven’t spent any time in the big leagues, Hassell is probably closest to major league ready and might be the safest bet long-term.
