The Rundown 🌟
Brandon Pfaadt (23) - ARI (AAA), who leads all of the minor leagues in strikeouts, reached 200 on the year in Reno's 4-2 win over Salt Lake. The 5th round pick in the 2020 draft out of Bellarmine University (KY) pitched eight innings, giving up two runs on four hits while striking out 11. Pfaadt began in the year in Amarillo (AA) before being promoted to Triple-A in early August. Across both levels he holds a 3.88 ERA with 202 strikeouts in 155 1/3 innings pitched.
Wynton Bernard (31) - COL (AAA) had a five hit night for Albuquerque in their 7-6 win over El Paso, including smacking a game-tying homer in the bottom of the 9th and a walk-off single in the 10th. It was Bernard’s 18th homer of the season. The veteran outfielder is now slashing .332 / .386 / .587 (137 wRC+) across 425 Triple-A plate appearances. Rockies’ prospect Adael Amador (19) - COL (A) collected three hits yesterday for Fresno, including his 15th home run of the season. The 19-year-old native of the Dominican Republic slashed .292 / .415 / .445 (128 wRC+) in 555 Low-A plate appearances this year. Mets 2022 first-round draft pick, Kevin Parada (21) - NYM (A), went 2 for 3 last night with his first professional home run. The Georgia Tech product went 11 for 40 (.275 / .455 / .425) in his first taste of pro ball.
Josh Stowers (25) - TEX (AA) hit a pair of home runs and knocked in six runs for Frisco in their 18-3 win over Tulsa. The former 2nd round pick is now slashing .228 / .337 / .383 (88 wRC+) with 10 home runs and 22 steals in 394 Double-A plate appearances. Jacen Roberson (22) - ARI (A+), Brendon Davis (25) - DET (AAA), Chris Owings (31) - NYY (AAA), and Nate Baez (21) - MIN (A) also had two-homer games.
Grayson Rodriguez (22) - BAL (AA) punched out seven across 2 2/3 innings in Bowie's 9-6 loss to Richmond. The Orioles’ top pitching prospect was perfect through two innings, striking out five of the first six hitters he faced. Rodriguez walked the bases loaded in the 3rd but then struck out the next two batters he faced before giving up a run-scoring single. Three runs were charged to Rodriguez after he departed the game. Despite the final line it was a good start for the right-hander who is still building back up from a lat strain that cost him most of the summer.
Andrew Abbott (23) - CIN (AA) struck out nine batters and only gave up two hits in five shutout inning for Chattanooga. After a rough stretch in August, Abbot hasn’t given up a run in his last two starts. The left-hander holds a 4.02 ERA across 24 games and has punched out 151 batters in 112 innings pitched.
