Korey Lee, C - R/R, 23 y/o, 6' 2" / 210 - Astros (AAA)
Coming out of Cal and hitting behind Andrew Vaughn, Korey Lee was known for his high exit velocities and hard-hit rate, which is why he was an obvious choice for a club like the Astros who rely on models as part of their draft process. Lee played well enough last season at both high-A and AA to get an end of season promotion to AAA. In his brief exposure to AAA pitching in 2021, Lee struggled and hit just .229/.263/.343 (45 wRC+) in 38 plate appearances. So far in 2022, it’s been a similar story. Lee has slashed .210/.258/.395 (56 wRC+) in 128 plate appearances with a strikeout rate of 28%. Lee doesn’t walk much, so his offensive success will depend on his ability to get the ball in play more frequently.
