Matt "Tugboat" Wilkinson Dominates
The Guardians' left-hander throws six no-hit innings while striking out 15 batters
Taken in the 10th round out of Central Arizona (JuCo) by the Guardians in last year’s draft, Matt Wilkinson pitched the game of the season last night for the Lynchburg Hillcats. Nicknamed “Tugboat” for his size and power, Wilkinson only allowed one baserunner across six innings of work and has dominated in his first two Carolina League starts.
James Wood continues to play well and put pressure on the Nats to bring him up to the big leagues. Last night he collected two hits, including a double he hit at 114mph. He’s now slashing .310 / .420 / .488 with two home runs and five steals on the season.
Brewers prospect Mike Boeve just continues to hit. Last night he smacked a pair of triples and is now hitting .491 / .605 / .655 after being called up to Double-A last week. Boeve was a 2nd round pick last year out of Nebraska-Omaha and has seemingly come into his own at the plate early in 2024.
