Roismar Quintana Hits for the Cycle

Quintana isn’t a big time prospect, but he did sign for nearly a million dollars as an amateur coming out of Venezuela. He’s off to an OK start to the year, hitting .231/.355/.385 in 28 games, but he put his name in the Fredericksburg Nationals history books by completing the cycle; a first in franchise history. He completed the cycle in order, starting off with a long single to left field, followed by a double over the centerfielder’s head. Some horrific defense in left allowed him to turn a double into a triple, and he capped the cycle off with a no doubt homer to deep center. Hopefully he is able to keep it up the rest of the year.

Brennen Davis is getting back on track

It’s no secret that Brennen Davis has had a difficult past few years. Injuries took their toll on him, and people were starting to wonder if we would ever see Davis get back to his top prospect form. So far this year, he’s at least approaching it, hitting .270/.442/.667 with 8 homers in 23 games so far this year in Triple-A. That slash line is a bit misleading, because Davis really struggled to start this year, but has started to heat up as of late. This past week, he hit 5 homers, including a multi homer game on Saturday. The one area of concern is his in-zone contact rate, which is currently around 68%, which is rather low. But his power numbers are strong (max EV of 113 MPH), and he’s walking a lot (17%), which helps make up for it. Hopefully we see Davis with the big league club by the end of the year.
