Heading into the 2019 MLB Draft, Brooks Lee (22) - MIN (AA) was considered by many as a top 50 draft prospect (#37 by Pipeline, #36 by FanGraphs, #38 by Baseball America) and a potential first round pick. Right before the draft, Lee announced that he was pulling his name out of the draft and would honor his commitment to Cal Poly, the school where his father was the head coach. Many highly touted high schoolers decide to go to college, only to falter. However, Brooks was dominant throughout his college career. This past year, that dominance was rewarded by the Minnesota Twins, who selected him 8th overall in the 2022 draft. Considered one of the safest hitters in the draft, he’s been a consistent performer in pro ball so far. Now in Double-A where he’s performed well, a promotion to Triple-A by August is well within reach and it’s possible he makes it to the big leagues by 2024.
