Players of the Day ⭐️
Marcelo Mayer, SS (19) - BOS (A) — 3-4, HR, K
Red Sox prospect Marcelo Mayer went 3-4 last night with a home run (5) and a strike out for Salem (A). It’s been a rough stretch for Mayer, who coming into yesterday had just three hits in his last 39 plate appearances. Despite the recent slump, Mayer was still hitting .264/.347/.453 (123 wRC+) on the season.
Francisco Álvarez, C (20) - NYM (AA) — 3-5, HR, K
Not many players are hotter than Mets top prospect Francisco Álvarez right now. The 20-year-old catcher hit his 17th home run of the season last night and now has a .278/.366/.559 (150 wRC+) slash line in 265 plate appearances at AA Binghamton. So far this month Álvarez has hit 8 homers and slashed .296/.407/.718 — I wouldn’t be surprised if the Mets promoted him to AAA early next week.
